
Misaki Uma
Misaki Uma is one of eight Japanese native horse breeds, which lives as a semi-wild horse in a natural setting on Cape Toi. It was recognized as a Japanese National Natural Treasure in 1953.
*Compared with the other Japanese native breeds of horse which were used for farming, the legs of Misaki Uma are thinner because they were mainly used for warfare in Edo period (1600s-1800s).
*The only breed that inhabits as semi-wild (not fed) and never be kept at any zoos nor pastures.
*Population 110, estimated in 2010
*130 cm / 300 kg on average
